Dog behavioral assessment

your dog is unique, so is their behavior

Dog behavioral assessment

Before Jesse R. Booker can make any recommendations, he needs to evaluate your dog’s behavior. He knows your dog is unique, and so is their behavior.

For your convenience, Jesse can conduct behavioral assessments in your home, at the JRB K-9 facility or virtually via Facetime.

If you're seeing your dog act out, like being reactive, lunging, or biting, or if you just want to know more about what your working dog needs to be well-behaved, for example, getting a behavioral assessment is always a good idea.

During this 1.5hr assessment, Jesse evaluates your dog for their behavioral traits, problematic behavior and other issues that can be addressed with training – should you pursue that route.

There are two key pieces of information to gather with a behavioral assessment. First is gaining a better understanding of everyday life at home with your dog. More specifically, the rules, routines and structure currently in place.

The second piece of information gained during a behavioral assessment is observing your dog to understand why your dog behaves the way it does, and what specifically needs to be modified. Jesse doesn’t just look for the subtle cues and signals dogs send through body language, but also for their level of behavior compliance.

The behavioral assessment is mandatory for private training and board & train. If you wish to move forward with training and you purchased the assessment separately, the assessment fee is applied to any private training or board and train program.

Bichon Rescue Brigade dog

success story

Meet Tucker, one of JRB K-9’s biggest successes. He came from one of the overpopulated shelters here in Los Angeles. He was terrified of everyone and had a bite history a mile long. Plus, he was red-listed for his behavior. Bichon Rescue Brigade took a chance on him and sent him to JRB K-9 Board & Train. After many months of behavior modifications and training, he successfully graduated. He is currently living with a yellow Lab named Emma and two cats enjoying the good life!
